  • Mirage

    PREMIERED: 2019

    LENGTH: 60 minutes

    We will take you on a journey to the mystical side of nature, featuring compositions by Chopin, Couperin, Dukas, Ravel, and Saint-Saëns.

    The music will be transformed into motion by Tokuda’s original choreography, and together we will create a magical dance experience.

  • Chaconne

    PREMIERED: 2021

    LENGTH: 30 minutes

    Tokuda’s choreography to Bach’s Chaconne expresses that there is always a hope during darkness and after sorrow. Featuring music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Charles Auguste de Bériot, Eugène Ysaÿe.

    Performers: 6 dancers, 1 violinist.

  • PRIMAVERA

    PREMIERED: 2022

    LENGTH: 35 minutes

    A unique collaboration of classical music and ballet to celebrate primavera (spring), bringing back life after the long winter with live performance. Featuring music by Rachmaninoff, Cassado, Liszt, Debussy and more.

    Performers: 1 dancer, 1 pianist, 1 cellist.

  • Iridescent Blue

    PREMIERED: 2022

    Length: 70 minutes with 10 minutes intermission

    Iridescent Blue features some of the most technically difficult solo piano works ever written, which are reimagined and transformed into continuous movements, performed in complete synchronization with the music. The dance will be depict things that change - the color, shape, sound and even the audience, set to the music of Saint-Saëns, Liszt-Schubert, Somei Satoh, Ravel, and Gershwin.

    Through the collaboration, Tokuda continues to develop a technique of bringing forth the original intentions of the composers to create unique artistic expression. The hope is to create a performance where the audience can experience Classical music and Ballet with new light and deeper understanding.

  • VERANO

    PREMIERED: 2022

    Unique collaboration of classical music and ballet to celebrate verano (summer). Featuring music by: Pärt, de Falla, Kapustin, Mayuzumi and Rachmaninoff.

  • Moonrise

    PREMIERED: 2022

    LENGTH: 42 minutes

    Choreographer Yuki Tokuda examines what it means to be a woman and an artist, and brings awareness to the rich history of women artists as well as active women artists of today. The program features women composers including Nadia Boulanger, Lili Boulanger, Amy Beach, Rebecca Clarke, Sofia Gubaidulina and Sayo Kosugi.

  • Two by Two

    PREMIERED: 2023

    Two pianos and two dancers. The dynamic program will feature two-piano works by Sergei Rachmaninov, Takashi Yoshimatsu, and John Adams.

  • Wild Knowing

    PREMIERED: 2023

    LENGTH: 40 minutes

    Live dance and music performance created in collaboration with Finnish fiber artist Anita Jain.

    The program is inspired by nature - cycles of life and folktales - and encompasses cultural crossroads of Finland, Japan and America. Featuring music by Selim Palmgren, Michio Mamiya, Kaija Saariaho, Kenneth Frazelle, Antonin Dvorak, Camille Saint-Saëns.

  • The Snow Woman (雪女)

    PREMIERED: 2023

    LENGTH: 30 minutes

    A ballet based in the Japanese folklore story, Yuki-Onna (The Snow Woman) , paired with Piano Sonata in B Minor by Franz Liszt.

    Performers: 3 dancers, 2 kids dancers, 1 pianist.

  • Yumé/夢

    PREMIERED: 2018

    Length: 70 minutes with 10 minutes intermission

    Yuki Tokuda, a professional ballet dancer, teacher, choreographer, and native of Japan who now is a Minnesotan, collaborates with other celebrated Japanese/Minnesotan artists to tell the story of how her love for dance transcends cultures and language barriers to bridge her two worlds.

    Performers: 3 dancers, 3 student dancers, 1 pianist, 1 cellist and 1 vocalist.
